Countdown to the new ruler of Nepal: Prachanda

Prachanda has given his ultimatum to the king: Leave the palace by May 27th or else....

.... or else he will go public with the information that he holds no constitutional power (yet), but he has the supreme moral authority to circumvent all democratic processes and storm into the Royal palace, brandishing his trademark 'Hammer and Sickle' and declare Nepal a Republic.

Prachanda screaming "Ayo Gurkhali" and charging forward into the palace, suddenly takes a very illegal connotation.... :icry: :confus:

Judge, jury and executioner, that's what Prachanda wants to be. Only dictators are like that, haina ra.... :evill:

His second in command, Dr Babu Ram Bhattrai has already given him implicit approval by saying "You know, Kings used to be beheaded in the past". Isn't Bin Laden's second in command, also a "Dr" ?? Both of them are "Dr Evil" that is all we need to know!! :itwist:

The Royal palace is no stranger to violence. Recent tragedy has seen the palace drenched in royal blood and we are only too familiar with Prachanda painting the country red, with the blood of 1000s of Nepaliz. Judging by his recent comments, his unquenchable thirst for blood hasn't be vanquished... not until he feasts on the Head Honcho himself ie. the king. >:(

The symbolic significance of Narayanhiti palace in the heart of Kathmandu, can't be overstated. If it wasn't for the residents of No. 240 Darbar Marg, we would all be wearing Dhotis now.

Its not just global warming but as the political temperature in Nepal heats up abetted by friendly and hostile forces from India, wearing dhotis doesn't seem like such a bad idea after all. :iwink:

Maybe, Prachanda has a valid point when he says, he wants to herald Nepal's new dawn by performing a bloody sacrificial rite in the palace.

Nepali tradition allows sacrificial slaughtering when embarking in any new endeavour. So far, only animals have served as gifts to gods, but for this auspicious occassion, and with the "secular" Moaists priests in control, I guess, its OK to have humans sacrificed.

Its a shame, the monarchy is now a tiny flickering flame, waiting to be snubbed out. The king doesn't seem to have made any attempts to come out fighting like a cornered feral beast.

The King should have learnt from Hillary Clinton's resilence and tenacity as she makes her own last "futile" stand. Forget Rocky Balboa, I have no doubt in my mind, even Rocky Marciano is proud of Hillary.

'Girija his posse' are the true villians of Nepal for all the problems that Prachanda imported into Nepal, and we are not talking about just the Moaist ideology. :-/

But for too long, the misguided journalists and aficionados of democracy have reprimanded the King and made him a scapegoat.

So to "appease" the new ruler of Nepal, should the King perform his final duty for his country and be the sacrificial goat ??? :hmm: :confus: :roole:

Prachanda says " Let's learn from Buddha's sacrifice"

    Makes me sick !

2 . Prajwol 20 May 2008
The word "appease" is making buzz everywhere :)

3 . Naked Nepali 21 May 2008
Really ?? hmm I only know it 'cause every time Hitler is mentioned "appeased" get mentioned too... :)

4 . Prajwol 21 May 2008
Bush used "appeasement" in Israel aimed at Democrats, after that he was hammered back from the Democrats. The Democratic front runner for presidential election said that he will talk not only with the friends but the enemy's of the USA to initiate diplomacy towards solving problem, especially as not talking hasn't helped a bit. Bush metaphorically suggested that it was "appeasement" to do so.

However, 'talking' and 'appeasement' are entirely two different words. And, the stage where Bush brought up the issue (raising the internal affairs in Foreign soil) got him the hammering.

And thus spake Zarathustra, the enlightned one: "All Hail His Majesty the King of the sovereign state of Nepal !! Our savior !!!”.

But I ask you O' great political buddha "Who is the greatest Dr. Evils of them all ? The kings who'd love a feudal autocracy or an oligarchy at most, a totalitarian communist leader or failed and corrupt democratic leaders ?"

In my opinion the answer would be "the monarchs". If I had to rank them then a monarchy with despotic traditions would be on the top with democratic leaders at the bottom.

What monarchy did for the country centuries ago does not justify their existence now. Indeed they helped the country be unified and remain sovereign, but talking about history, let's not forget it was their impotence and degraded political attitude that got us hooked with the Ranas. When Ranas were removed from "reign" then it was Mahendra who took away democracy from us, killing it in the infancy. But the Ranas and political allies were still the major players. Then came Gyanendra who tried to use the same ploy as Mahendra.

What oligarchic Mahendra robbed of the people was not replenished by the 15 years of democratic practice. 10 years of which were stymied by the maoist war. Please take into notice that i'm not praising what the leaders like Girija did (or what they didn't do). I'm just pointing out how the system of monarchy hasn't been helpful to our country.

Maoist kill people which is undoubtedly is horrible but a even more horrible is the system of monarchy which treats people like slaves, while they themselves get fatter. Before we talk about how corrupt the leaders are let us begin by thinking how corrupt a single family can be that they have enough money to run the country for the next 10 years in cash. Besides that, the kings still own the most economically viable lands/properties/buildings. They own almost all the biggest industries in Nepal or have a major share in them. The loyal "Jung/Shamsher Thapas" "Jung Ranas" "Jung Karkis"... who make up no more than a few percent of the population are the powerful elites and still treat others like paupers. Not because they are very good entrepreneurs, no sir, only because they were born with silver spoon in their mouth.

They operate several crime organizations ( 90% of all the organized crimes have the Durbar people involved), steal historic/religious statues (Dhirendra), they rape our mothers, sisters and wives, murder people walking freely on the road (Paras), and still get away with it.

"Their Majesty's and the satellites are above the law".

Still people should take them as holy avatars. Until a few years back the king wouldn't hesitate to shake hands with a European rapist but he'd never shake hands with a Nepalese Prime Minister let alone a peasant. The prince still holds monopoly over public abuse of women and murder of our brothers in open daylight.

As wretched as maoists are they are still questioned for their killings, But the king is "God". Birendra’s family was slaughtered but the government was helpless because “Nepalese people don’t have a right to know what goes inside the “240 Durbar Marg”. BWT: Mahendra did infact “sell” the “240 Durbar Marg” to the then Government 2 times to get money, but who had the power to push “God” out of “heaven” then (or even now).

Sorry Naked Nepali!! Even if you get down naked to the bone, I cannot agree with you on keeping monarchy as it was/is. Indeed Maoists are evil until now and political leaders impotent and corrupt but the system of Nepalese Monarchy is most evil of them all.

Prajwol Bro, I heard bits of the speech given by Bush in his recent visit to Israel.. It was so so baised against the Palestinians and he went as far as to praise God for "the promised land " that Israel has now inherited.. I couldn't bring myself to hear the rest of it.. to me it showed, How much religion has played a part in US politics....

He doesn't want Obama to talk to Hamas, or Iran's PM which he sees it as "appeasement" in reference to pleasing of Hitler by some folks in the past.....

Comarade Sushant !! :) Its pretty hard to defend Monarchy in this day and age if not indefensible.. I wouldn't even try... but I wouldn't defend Prachanda and his Moaist ideologies either..

We have seen the chaos 'caused by the parties in the last 15 years.. and as I know it, the situation was chaotic when Mahendra decided to be the sole power...

I really don't care who believe in what.. I don't even care if Nepali women vote Sharukh Khan to be Emperior of Nepal tomorrow..:) but I draw the line when Nepali are killed and murdered especially when its in the 1000s... I think Prachanda said "it was an necessary evil" and brushed it off and danced around bathed in mala and rato abhir with his new found impunity.. :)

Not having to face justice, in this day and age, that is what I disappove of ...

Like you said, we have already paid enough debt for what the Royals did for us in the past, but what I fear is of what's happening right now, don't you think we have new Royals in the form of Prachanda and his gang... I heard his wife and his daughter are going to get some governmental posts... who is going to pay for that ... do we know how much money Girija and his gang has made in the past decade... where is the record for that...

Girija and his posse came to Europe to buy weapons so that would crush Prachanda but now look at them, buddies, teamed up and pointing the finger at the King...

I have no doubt King has become the scapegoat for everyone, and maybe that is what has saved Nepal in the short run from further fragmentation as all parties have teamed up to fight a common enemy....

The winners always writes history.... Rebellion only becomes a Revolution when it succeeds... whoever might be the rebels... :)
