Veteran Journalist Akhanda Bhandari Appointed Chairperson of Gorkhapatra Corporation

KATHMANDU: Renowned journalist and media professional Akhanda Bhandari (Govind Prasad Bhandari) has been appointed Chairperson of Nepal government–owned Gorkhapatra Corporation.

Bhandari, widely respected for his editorial leadership, has previously served as Editor-in-Chief of Annapurna Daily and Creative Editor of Kantipur Daily, earning recognition as a skilled editor and an accomplished writer.

In 2020, he was honored by then President Bidya Devi Bhandari with the prestigious Prabal Janasewa Shree (Fourth Class) for his contributions to journalism. His notable published works include the media writing The Language of News, the novel on migrant suffering Malaya Express, and Bora, a novel highlighting the dignity and sacrifices of motherhood.

Under the Gorkhapatra Corporation operate publications such as Gorkhapatra Daily, The Rising Nepal, Muna, Madhupark, Yuva Manch, and Naya Nepal, along with their online editions. The corporation employs approximately 550 staff members.
