First Nepali Woman to ascend Mt. Denali, highest peak in N. America, let’s help achieved her dream



New York- Nepali climber and women’s rights activist Sharmila Thapa Magar has announced her plan to climb North America’s highest peak Mt. Denali (20,310 feet) on May 29, 2020. She will be the first Nepali woman ever to climb Mt. Denali solo if successful. To achieve her dream of climbing Mt. Denali, she is hosting a fundraising event on March 15th, 6 pm at Gorkhali Restaurant, 7-04 Roosevelt Ave., New York. Let’s help achieved her dream.


Ms. Sharmila Thapa is the one of the three persons who first ever climbed Jugal Himal (21,492 feet) on April 19, 2019. Other two climbers were Maya Gurung and Milan Tamang.


“Women are soft but not weak. Let’s change the way we think”, Ms. Thapa says with confident in her mission. She plans to celebrate International Women’s Day and promote Visit Nepal campaign while climbing Mt. Denali.


Ms. Thapa is founding President of Samida Women Development Forum, Kathmandu and UNDP’s N-Peace Award 2015 winner.
